What does the Boston Celtics’ defense look like without Robert Williams III?

How will Boston adapt to life without their defensive anchor in the frontcourt?

The Boston Celtics will have to move forward for at least the next few weeks without the anchor of their top-rated defense, starting center Robert Williams III, after the former Texas A&M player had surgery to repair a torn lateral meniscus.

That means the Celtics will need to reinvent their vaunted defense to a degree given very few players can replicate the Timelord’s absurd athleticism and timing. We can expect the same brand of switch defense we saw new head coach Ime Udoka institute with the team in the first half of the season, but how exactly it will change has not yet been seen.

The hosts of the popular ESPN show “NBA Today” recently spent a fair amount of air time to discuss how the Celtics will adapt to the (hopefully) temporary absence of the Louisiana native.

Watch the clip embedded above to hear what they think Boston’s defense will look like while they wait for Williams’ return.
