[autotag]Jayden Daniels[/autotag] was knocked out of last week’s game against Alabama after taking a hard shot from Alabama’s Dallas Turner. [autotag]Brian Kelly[/autotag] has upgraded Daniels’s status for Saturday to probable, but if Daniels can’t play, what does [autotag]Garrett Nussmeier[/autotag] bring to the table for the Tigers offense?
Daniels is one of the best quarterbacks in the country and he is putting up numbers that are comparable to what [autotag]Joe Burrow[/autotag] did in 2019. Nussmeier doesn’t run the ball like Daniels does, but when it comes to throwing a deep ball, there aren’t many better gunslingers than Nuss. On3’s Shea Dixon discussed that question with Andy Staples.
When Nussmeier is out there, he’s not going to be running it all over the field. So you lean more on the ground game with Logan Diggs and Co., but they trust Nussmeier to throw the football, and we’ve seen it. He can sling it. The deep ball is kind of the sexy thing Nussmeier gets out there and does that LSU fans love, but Jayden’s been very good at that this year. … I don’t think they’ll miss a beat there.
If Nussmeier starts for LSU against the Florida Gators, don’t expect the Tigers’ high-powered offense to slow down at all.
