Minnesota is coming off a year in which it went 7-9 and missed out on the playoffs. That said, the Vikings are a team that could theoretically compete for the postseason next year, just look at the Buccaneers.
In 2019, Tampa Bay finished 7-9. The Buccaneers added Tom Brady in the offseason and we all know what happened in 2020: Brady led them to a Super Bowl victory.
CBS Sports has an idea for how the Vikings can compete with the Buccaneers. The outlet suggested that Minnesota upgrades its offensive line. Here’s what it said about the Vikings:
“When’s the last time this wasn’t a pressing issue in Minnesota? For goodness sake, if you’re going to ride with Kirk Cousins under center and build your offense around Dalvin Cook, why on Earth have the Vikings failed so consistently to iron out their trenches? Cousins is more good than great, but if somehow they were able to infuse a Pro Bowler or two up front, they’d be feisty.”
If Minnesota can improve its offensive line, that certainly helps. However, from the defensive back corps to special teams, there are other weaknesses that should also be addressed. A lot needs to happen for the Vikings to be good next year. But then again, a lot needed to happen for the Buccaneers to win the Super Bowl in the 2020 season.
