Alabama quarterback Bryce Young enters the 2022 season as the reigning Heisman-winning SEC Champion who led his team to a win in the Cotton Bowl. Though he has two more years of eligibility, he will likely forgo his senior season to declare for the 2023 NFL draft.
There’s a lot of pressure on Young to not just repeat his Heisman season, but improve upon it. With a new cast of skill players surrounding him, that include a handful of high-profile transfer, the offense is expected to be the star of the show.
ESPN recently revealed quotes from anonymous in-conference coaches regarding quarterbacks from various schools.
“Bryce stands out in a big way,” an SEC coach said. “He just knows how to play the game at a high level, very accurate.”
It’s not much, but it’s spot on. Young’s abilities allow him to stand alone at the top of the SEC as the best quarterback in the conference. His accuracy and awareness to play the game at a high level are exactly the qualities that make him an attractive candidate for No. 1 overall in 2023.
