Western Michigan announced future nonconference games against Tennessee and Iowa.
The Broncos will play Tennessee Sept. 19, 2026 at Neyland Stadium. Western Michigan will travel to Iowa on Sept. 16, 2028.
“We are thrilled to add an historic SEC program, as well as a Big Ten opponent with one of the most exciting gameday atmospheres in the country to our football schedule,” Western Michigan director of athletics Dan Bartholomae said. “We look forward to giving our student-athletes the opportunity to compete on a national stage against these two storied programs.”
Tennessee will kick off its 2022 season Thursday versus Ball State at Neyland Stadium under second-year head coach Josh Heupel. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. EDT (SEC Network).
The Vols will host MAC opponent Akron Sept. 17 at Neyland Stadium.
Tennessee opened its 2021 season against MAC opponent Bowling Green, defeating the Falcons 38-6.
