Hubert Davis and the North Carolina Tar Heels are still very active in the transfer portal as they look to fill the remaining spots for the 2023-24 roster.
Earlier in the week, the Tar Heels reached out to West Virginia power forward James Okonkwo. They were among a handful of teams to show interest after he entered the portal following Bob Huggins’ resignation. Now the Tar Heels are set to host the talented forward.
Per Jon Rothstein, Okonkwo will visit UNC as well as Texas A&M in his new recruitment:
West Virginia transfer James Okonkwo plans to visit both North Carolina and Texas A&M, per his brother.

Okonkwo averaged 2.5 points, 3.2 rebounds and 0.7 blocks in 11 minutes per game in his first season with the WVU program. He appeared in 31 games last season.
The 6-foot-10, 210-pound forward would be a good depth piece for the Tar Heels. With Armando Bacot, Jae’Lyn Withers and Jalen Washington on the roster, there is room to add another big man.
