We’re about to learn a lot about the character of the 2021 Dolphins

The Dolphins were fortunate to make enough plays to win in Week 1 of the 2021 regular season, claiming a victory over the New England Patriots in Foxborough to start the year. Perhaps the Dolphins used up all their good fortunes for Week 2 in the process. Miami didn’t have a single thing break their way in the latest demolition of the team by the Buffalo Bills; Buffalo jumped into an early 14-0 lead and never looked back in the process. The more things change, the more they seem to stay the same.

But one thing we’ve come to know about Brian Flores and his group of players is that they’re a mentally tough, resilient group. And that adversity has not been something they’ve shied away from in the past.

Welcome to your first mountain of adversity in 2021, Miami!

How the Miami Dolphins respond to this adversity is going to tell us quite a bit about the DNA of the team and what the Dolphins are still capable of doing this season; particularly after Sunday’s loss against Buffalo seemed to serve as a cold reality check that Miami is no where closer to being a legitimate contender than they were at the end of last season. At least for now.

Miami, with the status of starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa in question, now must pack their bags and head west to Las Vegas; where they’ll face the 2-0 Raiders. Las Vegas owns wins over Pittsburgh and Baltimore this season; two teams that have owned Miami in recent memory. And if you thought the Bills’ pass rush was ferocious, wait until you meet Yannick Ngakoue and Maxx Crosby next Sunday.

This Dolphins team just had their world turned upside down. How do they respond? Week 3 will provide the answers and potentially clue Dolphins fans in on where the expectations need to land with this Dolphins team after so much went wrong on Sunday in the home opener.
