Week 12 fantasy football studs, duds and sleepers: Time to bench Tom Brady

Our starts and sits for Week 12.

Week 12 of the 2019 NFL season is here, with four teams (the Chiefs, Vikings, Chargers and Cardinals) off with byes.

As always, we’re here to help with your weekly decisions with our fantasy lineup advice. Each week, we give you the studs (players with plus matchups due to the defense they’re facing or their team situation), duds (players with tougher matchups or who are in muddled roster situations at the moment) and sleepers (a player you might consider starting who could be in for a big week).

Here are the names we’ve got for Week 12, and as we always say, good luck!!

Studs

QB Matt Ryan, Atlanta Falcons

The Bucs are adept at stopping the run (see below), but they’re second-worst at passing yards allowed per game. So Matty Ice is going to spend a lot of time throwing the ball and having a big day.

RBs Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt, Cleveland Browns

They’re going to run all day on the Miami Dolphins, and although game script might not favor Hunt, who has 17 targets and 13 receptions in his return from suspension, maybe he’ll get some more playing time if it’s a blowout.

WR D.J. Chark, Jacksonville Jaguars

It’s not because the Titans are the worst team at stopping the pass. It’s because this guy deserves to be in the top-10 at his position this season every week. Incredible.

TE Jacob Hollister, Seattle Seahawks

He’s averaged eight targets and six catches in his past two games and found paydirt three times in that span. Given the struggles at the position, he’s absolutely a TE1 now.

QB Tom Brady, New England Patriots

You can’t love what you saw last week against the Eagles, and if you look at the larger picture, it’s worrisome. He hasn’t totaled 300 yards in his past four contests and has more than one touchdown just once in that same stretch. Dallas’s pass defense is solid, too.

RB Brian Hill, Atlanta Falcons

The Bucs are so good against the run and Hill was awful last week. Not a great combination.

WR Amari Cooper, Dallas Cowboys

It’s not just the matchup against the Patriots. It sounds like he’s not 100 percent healthy after playing just 55 percent of the snaps last week.

TE Gerald Everett, Los Angeles Rams

He’s hit or miss. One week he’s a star, the next he’s catching one pass. And the Ravens’ defense is REALLY good, especially against tight ends.

QB Jacoby Brissett, Indianapolis Colts

The Texans aren’t very good against the pass (fourth-worst) and don’t have much of a pass rush (22 sacks total). So I’ll start him this week.

RB Bo Scarbrough, Detroit Lions

Am I really going to trust a Lions running back? That’s why he’s a sleeper. But I also would start an RB against the Redskins, who have given up the fifth-most rushing yards per contest in 2019.

WR Jamison Crowder, New York Jets

The Raiders present a great matchup and Crowder has scored in each of his last three games.

TE Ryan Griffin, New York Jets

The Raiders give up the third-most fantasy points to tight ends and Griffin’s coming off a 109-yard, one touchdown performance in Week 11.
