Week 1 AP poll drops LSU Tigers out of the top 25

The LSU Tigers fall completely out of the top 25 AP Poll, follows the trend from the coaches poll released earlier on Tuesday.

Following the release of the USA TODAY Sports AFCA Coaches Poll, we have the other half of the equation. The AP top 25 poll is now out as well. The LSU Tigers fell completely out of the Coaches edition after the 38-27 loss to the UCLA Bruins. Following the game, head coach Ed Orgeron took full blame for the loss.

Much like the voters in the coaches poll, the AP voters dropped the Tigers completely out of the top 25 while their opponents jumped into the poll. It was the quickest exit of the AP poll for the LSU Tigers to start a season since the 1983 season when they were ranked No. 12 in the preseason and by week two fell out completely.

Alabama held onto the top spot in this poll as well as dismantling the top 15 ranked Miami Hurricanes. Georgia climbed to the No. 2 spot where Oklahoma previous was ranked. The Sooners survived an upset scare from Tulane on Saturday.
