Former North Carolina Tar Heels standout Wayne Ellington isn’t returning to the court as a player for the 2023-24 NBA season. But instead, he will serve as Player Development Coach with the Miami Heat.
The organization made the announcement Friday night that they are adding the NBA veteran to their staff for the upcoming season. Ellington spent 13 seasons in the NBA after being drafted out of North Carolina. That included three years with the Heat organization.
Most recently, Ellington played for the Los Angeles Lakers from 2022-23 and has also spent time with the Minnesota Timberwolves, Brooklyn Nets, Detroit Pistons, Dallas Mavericks, Memphis Grizzlies, Cleveland Cavaliers and New York Knicks.
He’s now the “Coach with the Golden Arm” 👌
