The first seasonal entrance at Yellowstone National Park opened April 15 and already stupid tourists are showing up and breaking rules with their dangerous behavior.
In a video posted on Instagram, tourists are seen out of their cars getting photos of a grizzly bear walking through the snow and they appear to be closer than 100 yards, the minimum distance Yellowstone requires tourists to remain when viewing bears.
It’s hard to know how much closer they were to the grizzly before the video started, as it is walking away from them.
The poster known as Lavralyz captured the video and wrote “Bears are out…so are the tourons.”

The Urban Dictionary defines a touron as any person who, while on vacation, commits an act of pure stupidity. The term combines tourist with moron.
Park officials are constantly educating the public on the protocols when viewing bears in Yellowstone. The park has a section called Bear Safety on its website.

On a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being the worst of the worst offenders, this one ranks fairly low on the scale, as scenes like these happen all the time in Yellowstone.
But one incident last year shows the danger of being so close to a grizzly, an animal that can run up to 35 mph.
A woman was much closer than the required 100 yards, was charged by a grizzly and got jail time for approaching the bear.
She was one of the many tourons of Yellowstone. There is certain to be many more.
