Wisconsin basketball nailed a record-setting 21 three-point field goals in its 116-85 win over Iowa on Friday.
Arguably the most dominant shooting display in program history arrived in a need-to-win scenario. To avoid moving to 0-3 against the Big Ten this season, 11 Badgers scratched the score sheet for Greg Gard’s group.
Of those eleven, nine players netted at least one three-point field goal. Sophomore guard John Blackwell led the way with six makes during his career-high 32-point night, and bench veteran Kamari McGee splashed all four of his attempts to fuel Wisconsin’s bench unit.
The Badgers shot a ridiculous 67.7% from deep during the game off 31 attempts. While unlikely to happen again this season, the volume, efficiency and uncontested nature of the shot attempts is something fans should latch on to.
After trailing 28-22 early, Wisconsin would go on to outscore the Hawkeyes 94-57 for the remaining 28:51 minutes of action. That stretch included 19 three-point attempts from nine players.
