Watch: Warriors honor Kevin Durant with tribute video before opening night vs. Suns

The crowd at Chase Center rose to their feet to honor Kevin Durant in his return to the Bay Area.

Due to injuries and COVID-19 restrictions, Kevin Durant hasn’t had the chances to play in front of fans in the Bay Area since leaving the Golden State Warriors in 2019. Although he had a stop with the Brooklyn Nets in between, Tuesday’s opening night game in San Francisco marked his first chance to play in front of Warriors fans as a member of the Phoenix Suns.

Before tipoff, the Warriors honored Durant with a tribute video at Chase Center. While the Warriors welcomed back Durant to the Bay Area, the fans in attendance rose to their feet for a standing ovation for the two-time champ.

Durant spent three seasons with the Warriors, winning championships in 2017 and 2018. During his two championship runs with the Warriors, Durant was named back-to-back NBA Finals Most Valuable Player.
