We’re now less than 72 hours away from the draft, and the NFL team of beat writers at USA TODAY Sports has put together a final mock draft attempting to predict the events of this weekend.
Hosted by Draft Wire editor Luke Easterling, the staff pieced together projections for each pick in the first round. For the Jaguars, those selections were made by Florida Times-Union Jags reporter John Reid.
With the first overall pick, Reid didn’t pull out any surprises, as he had the team drafting Trevor Lawrence, who’s nearly unanimously considered to be the best quarterback (and prospect overall) in this draft. For Jacksonville’s second first-round pick, which it has from the Jalen Ramsey trade with Los Angeles, Reid predicts that the team will get some help for Lawrence, with Meyer targeting a player that fits his offensive scheme in Kadarius Toney.
The former Florida receiver didn’t break out until his final season of college, but it’s hard to argue with the agile speedster’s tape. He would be a nice addition to add to an already solid receiving corps that includes D.J. Chark, Laviska Shenault and Marvin Jones.
If you want to see how the rest of the first round shakes out or what Reid specifically had to say about each pick, check out the full stream of the mock draft below.
