Victor Wembanyama has been a revelation on the defensive end this season. Though the San Antonio Spurs haven’t been the best team defensively, his physical skillset is insane, and he currently leads the league in blocks as a rookie. Once he fully develops, he’ll be a perennial candidate for the Defensive Player of the Year award.
However, with great defensive talent comes the willingness to challenge every shot. All great shot-blockers get posterized from time to time. It just comes with the territory. And on Monday night, in the Spurs’ loss to the Golden State Warriors, Wembanyama got dunked on by fellow rookie Trayce Jackson-Davis.
Jackson-Davis drove the lane on Wembanyama, rose up, and threw down a monstrous and-one dunk over the 20-year-old Frenchman.
The entire Warriors bench went berserk after the play.
Jackson-Davis had an impressive showing in the Warriors win. He put up 13 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists off the bench while shooting 6-of-7 from the field.
