WATCH: Toney scores on perfectly executed punt return fake-out

Florida Gators all-around athlete Kadarius Toney scored a special teams touchdown against Kentucky with a run on a fake punt return play.

Florida managed to avoid a halftime deficit to Kentucky with a little bit of trickery from the special teams unit. Trailing 10-7 with less than a minute remaining in the first half, the Gators prepared to return a punt from the Wildcats, who were pinned deep in their own territory.

When the ball was punted, the blockers ran back toward Xzavier Henderson, the apparent returner. But Henderson was on the left side of the field, and the ball was punted to the right. It didn’t land in his hands, but instead in the hands of speedy receiver Kadarius Toney, who was unguarded.

UK completely bought the misdirection, and Toney exploded upfield through the seam, and no one on the Kentucky team was able to catch him. Fifty yards later, he scored a go-ahead touchdown as Florida managed to head into the locker room with a 14-10 lead after a first half that was closer than many expected.
