The San Antonio Spurs used the No. 4 selection of the 2024 NBA Draft to select Stephon Castle from the University of Connecticut. The five-star recruit spent a single season as a Husky before declaring for this year’s draft.
Castle was the Big East Freshman of the Year this season and helped lead UConn to an NCAA title. He will bring a lot of size to San Antonio’s backcourt, although his shooting will need a bit of work. Regardless, it’s an exciting moment for the Spurs and for Castle’s family. He was in New York for Wednesday’s draft, a special experience, and embraced a number of people sitting at his table before he went on stage to shake hands with NBA commissioner Adam Silver.
