Just one day following Hallettsville running back Jonathon Brooks signing his letter of intent with the Texas Longhorns, he was on the field for the state championship.
Brooks is playing in his final game at the high school level and it is coming at the highest level. Hallettsville is facing off with Jim Ned for Texas high school 3A state championship game. This year, he has been running like a man possessed as he led his team to their first-ever title game. Not a bad way to cap off a stellar season for the soon to be Texas Longhorn. He was one of 19 players to sign with the team on the first day of the early signing period.
In the first quarter, Brooks took a pitch on second and seven. He would race around the left side behind a pulling guard, and down the sideline for a 56-yard touchdown to break the 0-0 tie.

This season Brooks made quite the name for himself and he could be back on this same field next season. Provided the Texas Longhorns get back into the Big 12 Championship picture or land in the Cotton Bowl next year. There is a lot of excitement surrounding the way Brooks plays and for good reason.
