HOUSTON — Safety Justin Reid led the opening kickoff for the Houston Texans during their final preseason game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Saturday night at NRG Stadium.
The Texans’ primary kicker, Ka’imi Fairbairn, was held out of the game due to precautionary reasons. According to Aaron Wilson of Sports Talk 790, Fairbairn sustained a minor tweak, but his injury isn’t considered to be serious.
Taking the helm as the Texans’ kicker for a game has always been a goal for Reid. His desire to kick arose from his love of soccer.
“I hope I never have to in the sense that Ka’imi is always there because he’s clearly the best kicker on the team,” Reid said following the Texans’ practice on Thursday. “But it would be a dream of mine to actually kick an extra point.”
