WATCH: Texans QB C.J. Stroud takes the stage at 2023 NFL draft

Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud was ecstatic when he took the stage at Union Station in Kansas City at the 2023 NFL draft.

C.J. Stroud was emphatic about being taken No. 2 overall in the 2023 NFL draft.

The former Ohio State quarterback took to the stage at Union Station in Kansas City and was excited when he approached NFL commissioner Roger Goodell.

The Texans were expected to remain ambivalent with the second overall pick, and it appeared going into draft week there wasn’t a consideration to take Stroud. However, the Texans turned in the card and have effectively upgraded the position.

With the drafting of Stroud, he becomes the first Ohio State quarterback taken in the first round since 2021 when the Chicago Bears took Justin Fields.
