WATCH: Texans DE J.J. Watt gets game ball for 100th sack after beating Jaguars 27-25

Houston Texans defensive end J.J. Watt got a game ball after the win over the Jacksonville Jaguars for obtaining his 100th career sack.

Defensive end J.J. Watt recorded his 100th sack of his NFL career Sunday afternoon during the Houston Texans’ 27-25 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars at TIAA Bank Field.

With 6:29 to go in the fourth quarter, Watt came around and strip-sacked rookie quarterback Jake Luton. Th Jaguars recovered the loose ball and were forced to punt from their own 13-yard line.

The forced fumble was also Watt’s 25th of his career.

In the locker room after the win, interim coach Romeo Crennel presented Watt with a game ball. Watt took the ball but also took the opportunity to thank his teammates and sundry team support staff.

Crennel, who has been with the Texans since 2014, told reporters that Watt is “a tremendous athlete and a tremendous pro.”

“In my time here with J.J., he has done a little bit of everything,” Crennel said. “He intercepts balls. He causes fumbles. He tackles in the backfield. He invades the run and rushes the passer. He does it all. I feel really good about him getting his 100th sack.  As he said, he appreciates getting his 100th sack with a team victory.”

Watt was thankful that the career milestone came during a win.

Said Watt: “Talked about it before, it’s not a fun feeling when you’re not winning, so to get a win today feels good. Made it closer than we should have, but you’ve got your top two corners out, top three outside linebackers out, starting middle linebacker out, to get a win today is good for our guys. Everybody rallied, not perfect by any stretch of the imagination, but we got a win and got it done.”

Watt will go for his 101st sack and possibly more as the Texans stay on the road to face the Cleveland Browns in Week 10 at FirstEnergy Stadium next Sunday.
