My few takeaways from the ten most clutch runs in Notre Dame history.
- Robert Hughes shows up twice on the list. Over 10% of his career touchdowns at Notre Dame (15 total) end up here.
- Darius Walker saving the day at Stanford in 2005 was incredibly clutch, earning the University millions thanks to their BCS appearance. Although not the most impressive of runs, I’d argue that needs to be higher.
- Joey Getherall capping the 2000 overtime game against Air Force was as exciting as a third down in overtime can be.
- The last two touchdown runs I listed make me really miss Tony Roberts on the radio call.
- Rodney Culver run against Michigan State makes me sad again about how 1990 wound up concluding.
- Aside from clinching a national title berth or championship it’ll be hard to ever top Dick Lynch’s late go-ahead score to end Oklahoma’s streak in ’57.
