PHILADELPHIA — Before the Philadelphia 76ers took on the Boston Celtics in Game 3 of their semifinal series on Friday night, there was business to attend to.
Joel Embiid was named the MVP of the 2022-23 season after he led the league in scoring at 33.1 points per game and averaged 10.2 rebounds and 4.2 assists. He was dominant all season, and the Sixers would not be in this position to contend for a title if it weren’t for his dominance.
Before Friday’s Game 3 against the Celtics, commissioner Adam Silver presented Embiid with his MVP trophy which he so gratefully accepted in front of a raucous Wells Fargo Center crowd.

Embiid had some emotional moments when discussing overcoming the loss of his little brother. Everything that happened with the Sixers during his time with the franchise has led him to this moment and he now is looking to achieve the next box on his to-do list: a championship.
