On Monday night, head coach JR Payne and the Colorado Buffaloes women’s basketball team upset the defending NCAA Tournament champions and the No. 1 ranked LSU Tigers 92-78 to open up the 2023-24 season.
The Buffs were led by Frida Formann and Aaronette Vonleh in the dominant upset victory over the Tigers as the two combined for 51 points. Point guard Jaylyn Sherrod was also fantastic with her stat-stuffing performance that featured 19 points, eight rebounds, six assists and three steals.
Following the massive victory over LSU, the Buffs were surprised by a couple of major visitors inside their locker room.
NBA legend and former LSU Tiger Shaquille O’Neal and WNBA legend Candace Parker both visited with the team to congratulate Colorado on its impressive victory.
