Former North Carolina Tar Heel quarterback Sam Howell continues on through training camp with the Washington Commanders as he’s projected to be the starter for the 2023 season. While Ron Rivera hasn’t officially come out and said that Howell is the starter, he’s been QB1 since the start of camp.
So far, it doesn’t seem like Howell has done anything to lose the job to veteran Jacoby Brissett and he’s taking the reps with the first team.
During a joint practice on Wednesday with the Baltimore Ravens, Howell showed off one of his arm angles as he completed a side-arm throw to former Tar Heel teammate Dyami Brown.

That’s an impressive throw on the run and to get to that arm slot to make the completion is something that stands out.
After a solid preseason debut, Howell will look to keep that going on Monday when they host the Ravens in primetime.
