Watch: Rookie James Wiseman hits trio of corner 3-pointers at Warriors training camp

After missing the first few practices, rookie James Wiseman appeared at Chase Center for the Golden State Warriors preseason training camp.

After being selected by the Golden State Warriors with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft, James Wiseman wasn’t available for the start of training camp in the Bay Area.

According to reports, Wiseman was one of the two members of the Warriors to test positive for the coronavirus. After missing the individual session and the first three days of group practice, the Memphis product was back on the court at Chase Center.

On Thursday, Golden State’s Twitter account shared some photos of Wiseman on the floor at San Francisco’s Chase Center. Along with the image, the Warriors shared a video of the 7-foot-1 center knocking down a series of shots from beyond the arc. With the camera on, Wiseman buried three consecutive 3-pointers from the corner.

In a post-practice press conference with the media, Steve Kerr said Wiseman was allowed on the court for “very limited and light” shooting work.

He did some of that before practice started — very limited and light. This is just the early stages of him being able to get back out on the court. We’re just following the protocols. He got a few shots up, but that’s about it.

Kerr also said Wiseman would sit out Golden State’s first preseason game against the Denver Nuggets on Saturday, Dec. 12. Kerr called it “unlikely” for Wiseman to play in either of the Warriors’ final two preseason games against the Sacramento Kings.

After only playing three games during his time at the college level with the Memphis Tigers, Wiseman and the Warriors can’t afford the 19-year-old to miss much more practice time. With limited time available on the practice floor, Wiseman will quickly have to build chemistry with his new teammates and adapt to the NBA game, all while trying to learn how the Warriors operate.

With his time in the preseason potentially off the table, Wiseman could make his Golden State debut in the regular-season opener against Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving and the Brooklyn Nets on Tuesday, Dec. 22.
