The 2022 football season for Notre Dame comes to an end Friday evening when the Fighting Irish take on South Carolina in the Gator Bowl.
Notre Dame and South Carolina don’t have much of an intersecting football past. They’ve met four times and not at all since 1984. However, they do share a common former head coach. A head coach that just so happens to be the last Notre Dame head coach to lead the Irish to a national championship.
There will not be a Lou Holtz trophy at stake Friday, but the connections to the former coach will be plentiful. Holtz was South Carolina’s head coach from 1999-2004, taking the Gamecocks from 0-11 his first year to a 33-26 mark his final five seasons.
Notre Dame released its hype video for the Gator Bowl on Thursday and who voiced it?
Of course, none other than Lou. Take a watch right here:
“We’re Notre Dame – and you ain’t!”
