It was a day that Notre Dame football will want to forget as the Irish were upset by Northern Illinois 16-14 in the 2024 home opener.
After the Irish went on the road and defeated Texas A&M, a little bit of home cooking was seemingly on tap. Well, that wasn’t exactly the case, as the Huskies competed with Notre Dame all game long, and made plays at the end the to seal the deal.
Following the disappointing loss, Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman met with the media and discussed the stunning outcome. He touched on the preparation of his team, how he fixes the issues and get his program to live up to expectations.

This is a loss that will stick with Freeman and the Irish for a long time. They had a golden opportunity to walk into the College Football Playoff and not they might now have as easy a time making the field.
