WATCH: Lions UDFA punter Arryn Siposs has an amazing highlight from his Aussie-rules football days

Before Arryn Siposs signed with the Detroit Lions as an undrafted free agent, before he thrived at Auburn as the Tigers’ punter, he was once a professional football player in the Australian Football League. Siposs has one of the coolest highlights from the AFL that shows what kind of control he can have on his punts.

Aussie rules football is more like rugby with a lot more kicking than it is traditional American football. At the end of Siposs’ time playing the unusual (for Americans) sport, he popped off a truly amazing kick to score a goal for his team.

This is the equivalent of a no-look shot from half-court in a basketball game, or throwing out a runner at home from the left-field wall without the ball bouncing on the way to the catcher.

Siposs has a real good chance to win the Lions’ punting gig, left open when Sam Martin left for Denver via free agency. The 27-year-old’s background as a professional and his excellent control at Auburn give him a good leg to stand on in battling with Jack Fox, who stuck with the Lions on a future/reserve contract.
