Former Texas A&M linebacker Edgerrin Cooper is one of the top 25 athletes in the 2024 NFL Draft, bar none. On Thursday, during the first day of the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine, Cooper continued to show off his elite athletic traits during the first portion of linebackers’ on-field workouts.
During the 40-yard dash portion, the most popular among viewers and scouts who put speed over any other trait, Cooper’s performance certainly impressed a vast majority of the representatives for all 32 teams. Running second in the 40, Cooper recorded an impressive time of 4.52, which remained the best time among linebackers until former North Carolina State LB Payton Wilson recorded a blazing time of 4.44.

During his breakout 2023 campaign, Cooper recorded 17 tackles for loss, ranking fifth among Power Five players. Doing all the dirty work inside, Cooper’s team-high 84 total tackles and 8 sacks ranked sixth and fourth in the SEC, one of the primary reasons for his increased draft stock, which will continue as the Draft gets closer.
