For the first time since the 2019 Eastern Conference Semifinals when the Celtics lost to the Milwaukee Bucks, Kyrie Irving is back in Boston. Brooklyn’s point guard was unable to visit TD Garden last season, dealing with a shoulder injury for most of 2019-20, which eventually led to the season-ending surgery he received well before the Disney bubble.
While Celtics fans clamored for Irving relentlessly when the Nets visited the Garden in 2019-20, the ex-Boston point guard still won’t get a chance to play in front of the fans with which he had a messy break-up. Fans are still not allowed to attend games at the TD Garden in Boston, like Brooklyn’s Barclays Center.
As Irving prepared to play at his former home arena, he carried out a routine not seen before. It appears Brooklyn’s point guard decided to walk around Boston’s parquet floor and burn sage before Friday night’s game.
