Kyle Monangai continues to develop, the Rutgers football running back proving once again why he is earning a greater workload in the backfield.

There is a little bit of Ray Rice to his game. OK, there is a lot of Rice to his game…a lot.

Rutgers went up 7-0 with 4:20 left in the first quarter via Monangai’s 7-yard touchdown run. The redshirt freshman running back burst through an opening on the left side of the line, secured the ball, kept his pad level low and angrily ran into the endzone.

It was Monangai’s fourth rushing touchdown of the season and first in the Big Ten.

The Don Bosco running back started the season strong with two touchdowns in the opening win against Temple and then a touchdown the next week in a win at Syracuse. Coming out of high school, Rutgers and Cal were his only ‘Power 5’ offers.
