In the Golden State Warriors’ thrilling double-overtime victory over the Atlanta Hawks on Monday, Klay Thompson tallied a season-high 54 points with 10 made 3-pointers. However, it was teammate Kevon Looney who stole the show in the final seconds of double overtime against the Hawks.
After each team traded clutch buckets at San Francisco’s Chase Center, the game came down to the last possession.
Following a pair of Trae Young free throws to tie the game at 141, the Warriors had a chance to win the game with eight seconds remaining. With 3.1 remaining, Thompson fired away from beyond the arc, but his potential game-winner fell short. However, Looney came up with a crucial offensive rebound that led to a tip-in. Looney’s tip-in clanked off the backboard, but he was in the right position for another tip-in and didn’t miss.
As the clock ran down to zero, Looney’s last-second putback helped the Warriors extend their winnings streak to six straight games with a 143-141 victory over the Hawks in double overtime.

On the way to his game-winner, Looney tallied a double-double with 14 points on 4-of-8 shooting from the field with a game-high 20 rebounds to go along with four assists and a block in 32 minutes. Looney’s 20 rebounds marked a season-high for the veteran center.
Behind Looney and Thompson, the Warriors have extended their season-high winning streak to six straight games. The Warriors will be back on the floor on Wednesday against the Detroit Pistons at Chase Center in San Francisco at 7 p.m. PT.
