WATCH: John Metchie makes epic catch between two defenders

Alabama wide receiver John Metchie went up and over two defenders to pull down a 45-yard catch from Mac Jones against Tennessee.

John Metchie II has stepped up in the absence of Jaylen Waddle. The Alabama receiver has combined with DeVonta Smith and Slade Bolden to give quarterback Mac Jones plenty of options in the passing game against Tennessee.

Late in the second quarter with the score 21-10, Metchie went up and over two defenders, including Vols cornerback Bryce Thompson, for a 45-yard gain that put the ball at the Tennessee two-yard line.

Just a couple plays later, running back Najee Harris rushed for his second touchdown of the day to put the Crimson Tide up 28-10.

On the day, Metchie has three catches for 88 yards. He’s averaging an eye-popping 29.3 yards per catch.
