PHILADELPHIA — The Philadelphia 76ers will have their MVP candidate return to the lineup in Game 3 against the Miami Heat on Friday at home. Joel Embiid will return from concussion protocol and an orbital fracture in order to try and help the Sixers climb back into this series.
Embiid will be wearing a mask which is always a tough thing to battle through. Only a handful of players have been able to wear a mask and be able to have success out on the floor–former Detroit Pistons guard Richard Hamilton comes to mind–but Embiid has worn a mask before.
The big fella wore it in the 2018 playoffs against, ironically, against the Heat after missing the first two games of that Round 1 series as well. Embiid also wore that mask in the semifinals against the Boston Celtics so he has a lot of experience of being able to battle through that and persevere.
