While Celtics star Jayson Tatum and the US men’s basketball team struggled late in their opening game of the 2020 Olympics versus France, it was a fellow Celtic who stole the show.
France took home an 83-76 win behind Evan Fournier’s heroics. Boston’s wing dropped 28 points while his counterpart Tatum finished with 9 on 3-of-9 shooting from the field.
This was the first official Olympic Games loss for Team USA since they were upset in 2004 by Argentina in the semifinals. The US can get back on track early Wednesday morning as they face Iran at 12:40 a.m ET.
