The Boston Celtics got more than they bargained for in heir Game 1 win over the Philadelphia 76ers on Monday evening, it taking outstanding games by point guard Kemba Walker, shooting guard Jaylen Brown and especially small forward Jayson Tatum to come away with the 109 – 101 win.
The Duke product in particular shone as he faced off with former teammate Al Horford and the rest of the 76ers, scoring 32 points, 13 rebounds and 3 blocks to go with 10-of-21 shooting, including 2-of-5 from beyond the arc and 10-of-11 from the free throw line.
Tatum’s accuracy across the board was critical on a night the Celtics shot just 32.3 % from 3-point range and 42.2 % overall.
