Third-year Boston Celtics swingman Jayson Tatum put the league on notice Thursday night, scoring 39 points and pulling down 9 boards while locking down one of the best players in the game, Kawhi Leonard, in overtime.
While there have been rumbles of the arrival of Tatum as one of the NBA’s premier players this season, his career high-tying performance against the Los Angeles Clippers was the exclamation point at the end of those conversations.
The Duke product has really come into his own in recent weeks after getting his first All-Star nomination and scoring 28.3 points, 7.3 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game in February while shooting 46.8 % from deep and 48.2 % overall.
