Watch: Jaguars coach Doug Pederson gets standing ovation from Eagles fans

Eagles fans gave Doug Pederson a warm welcome back to Philadelphia on Sunday.

Earlier this week, Jacksonville Jaguars coach Doug Pederson said he didn’t know what to expect from the fans at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia.

On the one hand, Pederson led the Philadelphia Eagles to their one and only Super Bowl victory about five years ago. On the other hand, the Philadelphia fans aren’t always the most welcoming group to visiting teams.

But when Pederson jogged on to the field Sunday for a Week 4 game, he got a standing ovation from the Eagles faithful.

“I don’t know, it could be mixed,” Pederson said this week of the reception he expected from Eagles fans. “You hope it’s a good one obviously for the things you did there, but I also know that crowd and they can be a little hostile and [I’m] looking forward to that too.

“Listen, understanding that and having been there and worked there, you just understand that it’s [how it is]. Even when I was there and we were winning games or losing games, you were still getting booed, so it doesn’t really matter.”

Now that the Eagles fans have given Pederson his warm welcome, that may be the end of the good will between the Philadelphia crowd and the Jaguars coach. It’s all business from here.
