Former Boston Celtics floor general Isaiah Thomas has fully recovered from his hip woes, and is turning heads enough to get himself on the cover of Sports Illustrated with his performance for Team USA in the FIBA AmeriCup qualifiers.
The subject of SI’s Howard Beck’s latest cover story, Thomas opens up about the failed rehabilitation process prior to the surgery and his futile attempts to stay in the NBA while playing hurt, and how the surgery transformed his ailing hip back to the range of speed and burst he built his career on. Building off of pick up games with NBA greats past and present in his native Washington, IT plans on using this opportunity with Team USA for one more stab at the league.
