As did his Boston Celtics, All-Star forward Jayson Tatum had a slow start to his 2021-22 NBA season that may have been a part of the reason why many analysts around the league were not so keen on the Celtics’ potential to make a deep run in the postseason these coming playoffs.
But it’s getting well night impossible to ignore what Tatum and Boston have been up to since the arrival of the new year, with the Celtics morphing into the league’s best defense and a top-10 offense. Much of that has been fueled by the St. Louis native’s play, no better demonstrated than in the 54-point outburst Tatum unleashed on the Brooklyn Nets at TD Garden on Sunday afternoon.
Does this make the Duke product a top-10 player? Or does he need to show more consistency to take a step into such lofty company?
The hosts of the CLNS Media “Garden Report” podcast recently debated the place of Tatum in the league after his elite showing against the Nets — check out the clip embedded above to hear what they have to say about the rising star’s ranking among the league’s contemporary greats.
