WATCH: How the Boston Celtics can still add superstar talent

It may not happen via free agency, but that doesn’t mean it will not happen.

For a while earlier in the 2021 NBA offseason, the Boston Celtics looked as if they were planning to clear cap space to sign a third star — perhaps Washington Wizards guard Bradley Beal — in free agency next summer.

However, once the team began handing out a trio of contract extensions to Marcus Smart, Robert Williams III and Josh Richardson, it became clear that route to improve the team would no longer be on the table. That doesn’t mean that the Celtics are out of the hunt when it comes to star acquisitions over the course of the next season.

The host of the CLNS Media podcast “Celtics Beat” Adam Kaufman and NBC Sports Boston’s Chris Forsberg get into exactly how the Celtics could add a third star, as well as what Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown can do to improve their games further and more.

Watch the video embedded above to get up to speed on their takes with a live reaction to the trade for forward Juancho Hernangomez thrown in for good measure.
