WATCH: How important has Boston’s Marcus Smart been to the Celtics’ recent play?

The Flower Mound native was key in Boston’s road win over Toronto this weekend.

The Boston Celtics are finally starting to round into the team fans hoped they would be at the start of the season, and the play of veteran point guard Marcus Smart — especially against the Toronto Raptors in the Celtics’ 109 – 97 road win on Sunday — in particular.

“It’s going to take time — you have to learn, you have to adjust,” said the Flower Mound native after the game. “Ime (Udoka is) a different coach than what we were used to … He brings a different method, mentality to this team. We knew coming in it wasn’t going to be easy. We were going to have ups and downs, especially learning a new system and way to play, and getting re-familiarized with his coaching staff. We’ve been doing a great job.”

The hosts of the CLNS Media podcast “The Garden Report” took a look at how much Smart’s play has been helping Boston right the ship as their two star wings Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown have struggled early in their most recent episode.

Watch the clip embedded above to hear what they say about his role as the team’s glue guy so far this season.
