Michigan State football will have something to play for in next week’s season-finale thanks to a much-needed victory over Purdue on Friday night.
The Spartans dominated the Boilermakers in the first half, but needed some key defensive plays late to hold on to the 24-17 victory. Michigan State led 24-3 at halftime, but failed to score again in the second half.
With the win, Michigan State improves to 5-6 overall and 3-5 in Big Ten play. The win over the Boilermakers keeps Michigan State alive for the postseason, needing a win over Rutgers next week to clinch a bowl berth.
