Cam Akers did not start the season well, and for most of the year, his role was unpredictable. But in the last two weeks, he’s been one of the best running backs in the NFL. Against the Chargers on Sunday, he averaged a season-high 6.5 yards per carry, totaling 123 yards on just 19 carries.
It was actually the highest per-carry average of his career in a game where he had more than nine rushes, which shows just how well he played against the Chargers. He also added a catch for 10 yards and nearly hauled in a pass earlier in the game that could’ve gone for a 59-yard touchdown had he caught it.
Akers’ best play of the day was a 42-yard carry on a toss to the left side, making a couple of defenders miss down the sideline and showing off his speed and balance on the long run.
It was fun to see Akers playing with so much confidence again after a rough season in Los Angeles, looking more like the player that made a strong impression as a rookie in 2020. Check out the highlights from his performance below.
