On the PGA Tour, Marc Leishman narrowly avoided a playoff at the Farmers Insurance Open over World No. 3 Jon Rahm. Tiger Woods was looking for his 83rd PGA Tour win, but finished T-9 at 9 under. The PGA Tour travels to TPC Scottsdale next for the Waste Management Phoenix Open.
In other news, the Players Championship is now the richest event in golf history. The tournament announced the overall purse now sits at $15 million with a winners check of $2.7 million. Last year’s purse was $12.5 million.
