PISCATAWAY, N.J. — After some rough spells offensively, Rutgers football bounced back with a 34-yard touchdown run from quarterback Gavin Wimsatt on a quarterback keeper.
For Wimsatt, it was an important bounce-back moment as the offense had floundered following a strong start.
Following Kyle Monangai’s 19-yard touchdown run on their first play of their first possession, Rutgers managed just 15 yards of total offense combined on their next three drives.
Wimsatt’s touchdown run, virtually untouched, went right through the heart of the Virginia Tech defense. It put Rutgers up 14-3 over Virginia Tech.
For Wimsatt, it was his second career rushing touchdown. His first one also came this season in the opener against Northwestern:

As Wimsatt was ready to get into the second level, he was aided by a big block from Monangai. The Rutgers running back also had a big block in the opener against Northwestern.
