There’s a reason why we call Isaiah Thomas The King in the Fourth, and it isn’t because the former Celtic fan favorite floor general is a big fan of “Game of Thrones”.
It was on this very day in 2016 that the Tacoma native had one of the best games of his career, scoring a regular season career high of 52 points against the Miami Heat just 10 days after setting a previous career high in the regular season with a 44-points outing Thomas hung on the Memphis Grizzlies. And he scored 29 of those points in the game’s final quarter, true to his nickname.
“It doesn’t seem real, and they wanted me to keep going,” Thomas said via ESPN’ Chris Forsberg. “That’s what’s great about these teammates. They wanted me to get 50.”
Relive that magical contest with the video embedded above courtesy of the NBA; while IT’s time might be well behind the Boston team of today, he’ll never stop being one of our most beloved Celtics, and this is just one example of why.
