What happened that night in Lubbock, Texas, doesn’t make much sense. Over 1,000 yards of total offense, two of the greatest passing performances and over 100 points were scored. It was a Big 12 shootout of epic proportions and the two quarterbacks face off again.

Baker Mayfield left Texas Tech and it was his first trip back and some gunslinger Patrick Mahomes planted his flag as having one of the best arms in football. Mayfield threw for 545 yards and seven touchdowns—yes, seven. Mahomes threw for 734 yards on 88 passes—yes, 88 pass attempts—for five touchdowns.

It’s one of the greatest quarterbacking performances in college football history. Probably the history of football. Oklahoma pulled off the 66-59 win, but had to score on every possession in the second half to escape.

The two have already met once in the NFL before, with Mahomes getting the best of Mayfield in 2018. They meet again in the NFL Divisonal Round as the Cleveland Browns travel to the Kansas City Chiefs for a 2:05 p.m. CT kickoff.
