WATCH: ESPN analyst rips Redskins over handling of QB Dwayne Haskins

Citing leaked info that the team doesn’t want him, and a continued failure to commit to him as QB1, Mike Greenberg let his thoughts be known.

“What they are doing is the definition of how to ruin a young player.”

“If you wanted to look up a perfect method to ruin a young quarterback, you couldn’t do it any better than they’ve done it.”

Sounds pretty harsh, doesn’t it?

If you don’t already know, that’s ESPN’s Mike Greenberg, the host of Get Up, ripping the Washington Redskins for how they’ve handled rookie QB Dwayne Haskins since drafting him with the No. 15 pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. As a young and talented player that needed to be molded and worked into a QB1 role in the NFL, Greenberg claims that Washington went about the process in the wrong way.

Whether it was leaking information post-draft that the coaching staff was strongly against the selection or the fact that the same coaching staff wasn’t let go until after Week 5 of the season, Greenberg says that Haskins was immediately put into a position where it was nearly impossible to succeed.

Now with a few nice games under his belt, the team still won’t give the 22-year-old any vote of confidence going into the offseason, as new coach Ron Rivera has publicly stated that Haskins will have to continue to work for the QB1 role.

Through it all, Haskins has been able to keep his head up, and he recently said that he’s excited about the competition this summer. If he’s able to succeed going forward and build a decent NFL career, I’m sure Greenberg will give him some extra credit, and it’s well deserved.
